Incident at a military facility

The incident took place in St. Petersburg at a military facility. Law enforcement officers isolated the territory, local residents were asked to avoid the area.

National Guard statement

According to the official statement of the National Guard of Russia, it was possible to detain the suspect. "The appropriate special forces of the Russian Guard detained a person of Slavic appearance who tried to penetrate the territory of one of the military units in St. Petersburg," the statement reads.

The Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Encroachment on the life of a military personnel." The identity of the detainee was not specified by the security forces. The media reported that the suspect was a native of Ukraine.
