Roger Federer: "Đoković definitely among the favourites for Australian Open, along with Sinner and Alcaraz"
The Swiss Maestro believes that the Serbian and the two rising stars will be the ones to beat in Melbourne
Roger Federer has named Novak Đoković as one of the favourites for the Australian Open, along with rising stars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
The Swiss Maestro, who is a 20-time Grand Slam champion, was speaking to the media ahead of the Laver Cup in London.
"I think Novak is definitely one of the favourites," Federer said. "He's won the last three Australian Opens and he's always playing well at the start of the season.
"But I also think there are a few other players who could challenge him, like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. They're both young and they're both playing really well.
"It's going to be an interesting tournament, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out."
Đoković is the defending champion at the Australian Open, and he has won the title a record nine times.
Sinner is a 21-year-old Italian who is currently ranked 11th in the world.
Alcaraz is an 18-year-old Spaniard who is currently ranked 19th in the world.
The Australian Open will be held from January 16-29.
