WHO Invitation to Manufacturers for mpox Vaccine EOI Submission
WHO's Call for Emergency Use Listing
Addressing the Ongoing Public Health Challenge
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an invitation to manufacturers of mpox vaccines to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Emergency Use Listing (EUL). This significant step aims to accelerate the development and availability of effective vaccines against mpox, addressing the ongoing public health challenge it poses worldwide.
The WHO's EUL process assesses the quality, safety, and efficacy of vaccines during public health emergencies. By granting EUL, the WHO provides recommendations to countries on the use of the vaccine in response to the outbreak.
Manufacturers seeking to submit an EOI should direct their expressions of interest via letter to the Vaccines@who.int email address.
"The WHO is committed to ensuring equitable access to safe and effective mpox vaccines for all affected populations," said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. "This invitation for EOI submission is a crucial step towards expanding our global response to mpox and protecting people from this disease."
