Google has joined the festivities by introducing a playful interactive game that showcases the feline's natural hunting instincts. Created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), International Cat Day is a day to celebrate cats and unite cat lovers across the world.
Google's game is a simple but addictive one: a mouse darts across the screen, and the player must tap on it to catch it. The game gets progressively more difficult as the mouse moves faster and more erratically.
To play the game, simply visit the Google homepage on August 8th and click on the cat icon in the search bar. The game will then launch in a new window.
