Early Life and Education
Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo was born on June 24, 1962, in Mexico City. She obtained her bachelor's degree in physics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a doctorate in environmental engineering from UNAM's Faculty of Engineering.
Political Career
Sheinbaum has held various political offices throughout her career. She served as Head of Government of Mexico City from 2018 to 2022 and was the first woman to hold this position. Prior to that, she held positions as Secretary of Environment and Natural Resources of Mexico City and Assemblywoman for the Federal District of Mexico City.
Presidential Ambitions
Sheinbaum is considered a strong contender for the Mexican presidency. She was the frontrunner in the 2024 presidential race and a top ally of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Her candidacy aligns with the ruling Morena party, which she represents.
