This spring the Midwest and Southeast will have their first dual appearance of cicadas since 1803. Broods XIII and XIX are expected to emerge in a combined 17-year cycle. Whether you're excited or dreading the return of cicadas in the coming months, here's where the two broods will emerge.

**Brood XIII**: This brood is expected to emerge in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and parts of Kentucky, New York, and West Virginia.

**Brood XIX**: This brood is expected to emerge in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and parts of Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.
